Laid-back yet refined are Garden State Hotel’s dining venues in Melbourne

Garden State Hotel is a sprawling four-level hospitality venue with a hotel, bar, pub and beer garden, situated in a former Victorian-era textile mill in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. The clients, hospitality operators Sand Hill Road, asked award-winning firm Technē Architecture + Interior Design and Schiavello Construction to create an all-encompassing hospitality space.

“The beautifully articulated exterior of this former Victorian-era textile mill gives little away as to the urban oasis that lies within. While the heritage façade nods to its rich history, the contemporary 1,945sqm interior has quickly stamped the multipurpose bar and hospitality venue as a Melbourne icon. With the capacity to host up to 840 guests at a time, the pub is spread across five floors – four of which are accessible to the public – and includes multiple spaces for varying types of occasions. The versatile venue has spaces to cater for casual drinks, intimate dinners, family celebrations, and expansive corporate events. This itself translates into multiple venues within one venue; and while each distinct in purpose and design, there is a coherent flow that encourages interaction,” explains Schiavello Construction
