Interior of Nolo’s Kitchen in Minneapolis draws on ambience of old warehouse building
Nolo’s Kitchen is a neighborhood bistro located in the North Loop of Minneapolis. A small menu is inspired by ingredients of American cuisine with a modern twist. The interior was completed by architectural firm Studio BV.
“This idea of being comfort and quality were key themes in the design. The restaurant finds its home in a North Loop landmark, the Gardner Hardware Building. This old warehouse building shell becomes a key character in the interior design expression. We peeled away years of history to reveal the patina on the walls, used the concept of service and exploring the buildings past as key themes in the design. The dining room experience is bright and warm. In contrast with the building’s industrial past, it has warm rich leathers, a bold copper clad center bar and rich soft light wood floors that remind you of home. The lounge waiting area is rich and comfortable and is a place you want to be in while you wait for a table. The design of this space allows the people waiting to get a great view of the street life on Washington Avenue as they have a cocktail. Connecting to its iconic past and moving forward with a design that is warm and bright Nolo’s Kitchen is the next best thing to being at home,” says Betsy Vohs, Studio BV Founder and CEO
